Abstract

1,144,263. Refrigerating. TRANE CO. 21 Dec., 1966 [18 Jan., 1966], No. 57129/66. Heading F4H. An absorption refrigeration machine including a generator 11, a condenser 15 and an absorber 20 has two evaporators 18 and 19 so arranged that refrigerant vapour can flow from them to the absorber through a passage 60 between the evaporator and through passages 58 and 62 between the evaporators and the casing 10. The main evaporator pans 22 and 24 are connected by a transverse pan 36 leading to a sump 38 including a filter 44. A pump 48 is energized when liquid in a fluid switch 42 is above a given level to pass liquid refrigerant from the sump 38 to sprays 54. An overflow pipe 64 connects the pan 36 to the absorber, and eliminators 56 formed of vertical V-section baffles are located at the evaporator vapour outlets. Liquid refrigerant flows from the condenser 15 to the evaporator 18 through an orifice 34. Passage of liquid from the generator to the condenser is inhibited by a device including baffles 90 and 91 and an eliminator 94. Liquid collecting in the baffles is drained through pipes 92 and 97 and a perforated screen is located in and spaced from the bottom of the baffle 90. Preferred proportionate dimensions are disclosed.
