486,585. Disinfecting air. DAWSON, W. Nov. 2, 1936, No. 29747. [Class 81 (i)] [Also in Group XII] Air-purifying apparatus comprises a container having a fan 6 drawing air upwardly through an inlet 9, with a baffle 7 directing it on to a preferably liquid cleansing agent, e.g. a perfumed viscous disinfectant, in the lower part of the container which has one or more vertical partitions 2 shown as cylindrical and apertured or terminating just above the surface of the agent to provide an air passage to an outlet 12 in the container wall. One or more upwardly extending partitions 10a may also be provided and vanes 4 may impart a circular motion to the air causing the disinfectant to splash. Or a mechanical stirrer may be employed. The container and partitions may be formed of two intor-engaging parts A, 13. In a modification a second fan draws in air through an upper aperture for introduction. into the other air passage at a point intermediate of its length. The apparatus may be combined with an electric light chandelier or heating appliance.
