Abstract

The brightness of the finish of white linen, cotton and like fabrics including laundered goods is improved by using a finishing or starching mixture containing titanium oxide. Such mixtures may contain also loading materials such as china clay, mineral white, blanc fixe, satin white or talc and dispersing agents such as sulphonated castor oil and tallow coap. Examples describe the use of a mixture in water of maize starch, white dextrine, sulphonated castor oil and titanium oxide with or without china clay.
