Abstract

Paper blanks are fed to the conical mandrel 21 of a machine for making paper containers, or to other machines, by means of a rotating drum 3, or a swinging segment, which is provided with two or more outwardly moving <PICT:0486271/III/1> suction bars 6 arranged in recesses in the periphery of the drum, &c. which is rotated intermittently. When a bar 6 is adjacent the pile 35 of blanks, it is projected radially of the drum by an oscillating lever 22 so as to engage and separate a blank from the pile. The separated blank is coated with gum by a roller 36 mounted in a trough 37 carried by a swinging lever 38 operated by a cam on the cam shaft which projects the suction bars. The roller 36 moves out of action before the blank 34 reaches the mandrel 21.
