Abstract

485,813. Cylindrical roller bearings. SKEFKO BALL BEARING CO., Ltd. (S. K. F. Industries, Inc.) May 26, 1937, No. 14651. [Class 12 (i)] To prevent flaking at the ends of cylindrical rollers of a bearing the cylindrical face A of each roller is slightly relieved at the ends to assume a tapering formation E which merges into the cylindrical formation at a distance D + F from the plane of the adjacent end B of the roller not exceeding 0À1d and not less than about 0À075d (d being the diameter of the cylindrical formation), and the diameter of which taper at or near a distance ¢(D + F) from the plane end of the roller is about 0À985d- 0À995d. Rollers having bevelled ends C, or radiused ends may be given the slight taper E. The taper E may be straight or curved. In the latter case the centre of the radius G of the taper may be as shown or located on the transverse centre line J of the roller. Specification 205,306, [Class 12 (i)], is referred to.
