Abstract
485,799. Cigarette cases combined with pyrophoric lighters. FLORMAN, I. March 23, 1937, No. 8536. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1936. [Class 18] [Also in Group XI] A cigarette case comprising a body portion 4 with a hinged lid 2 also houses a pyrophoriclighter which can be projected into its operative position manually or by means of a hook 40 pivoted to the lid, the hook engaging a screw 30 on the side of the lighter so that, as the lid 2 is opened, the lighter is raised. A spring 44 holds the hook 40 in contact with the screw 30 and the latter slides in a slot 28 in a channelshaped housing in the case. The lighter is held in the projected position by a tongue 34 which presses on the screw 30, and it is necessary to push the lighter by hand to its retracted position where its hinged cover 18 lies flush with the outside of the case. The lighter is similar to that described in Specification 455,113, [Group XI]. Apertures are provided in the case to allow of access to the screw plugs closing the fuel and flint openings in the lighter.
