Abstract

485,781. Amusement apparatus. HANDS, F. C. Jan. 30, 1937, No. 2833. [Class 132 (i)] An amusement apparatus comprises a number of vehicles or trucks accommodating the feet of the passengers, who are carried in a substantially erect position by holding hand-gripping means located a suitable distance above said vehicles. The trucks 11 are drawn along an undulating track or platform 10 by means of links 17 connecting the trucks to vertical rods 16 which are propelled, preferably in a closed circuit, by any suitable means. An overhead revolving structure supported on a central driven shaft is described for carrying the rods 16. Passengers hold hand grips 19 rigid with the rods 16. Each truck lags behind its hand grip when ascending a slope and overtakes it in the descent, giving to the passengers a skidding sensation. The path of the trucks may also be sinuous in plan. In modifications, the trucks may be formed to represent skis and the feet of the passengers may be accommodated by individual trucks loosely linked together, and the connections between the trucks and the propelling means may have universal joints.
