[Class 51 (i)] Refractory bricks of the kind having slotted or recessed parts engaging with appropriately shaped iron or other fixed supports in a furnace structure are reinforced adjacent to the slotted or recessed portions by providing in one or more faces of the brick a grooves c, d, Fig. 1, to receive metal reinforcing .members e which may be held in place by cement #. Figs. 3 and 5 show portions of bricks with modified forms of grooves and reinforcing members surrounding the recessed or slotted portions.
