[Class 48] A fishing-rod c is detachably connected to the handle a by a captive nut g mounted on the rod and engaging a screw thread on the exterior of the handle socket b. The nut is mounted on a metal sleeve d, secured to the rod, and has a flange f engaged between a shoulder e and a split ring h. The sleeve is tapered at one end to fit the tapered socket, and also at the other end to avoid excessive localization of bending stresses.
