483,555. Surgical suction appliances. HUGHES, A. B. Oct. 15, 1936, No. 27973. [Class 81 (ii)] A device for extracting corns, bunions, splinters, and other matter from the body comprises a suction nozzle of glass, celluloid or other material having a smooth rounded edge for encircling the object to be removed, and means for exhausting the air from the nozzle. As shown, a nozzle a having a mouthpiece of circular, oval or other shape is connected by a rubber tube c to a vessel f from which air is exhausted by a pump, and to which is attached a pressure gauge g. The suction applied is coritrolled by the provision on tube c of a screw clamp d, or of a known form of spring clamp having a latching device. According to the Provisional Specification, a tap may be disposed in the connection between the nozzle and the vacuum vessel, which may be evacuated by an ejector operated by water under pressure. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 351,314.
