Ignition Installations For Internal Combustion Engines
(AREA)
Abstract
482,896. Ignition systems ; preventing unauthorized use of vehicles. FRIEND, F. F. Oct. 8, 1936, No. 27337. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iv)] At a predetermined speed of the vehicle, a resistance 1 is automatically inserted in series in the ignition system primary circuit. A switch-arm 4 normally retained by a spring 22 on the contact 2 is drawn by the action of the governor 7 on to contact 3. The speed of the governor shaft 10 depends on road speed, irrespective of the gear relation with the engine. A lock-switch 25 may also be provided for short circuiting the resistance 1, and may be secretly disposed; if left in the off-position an unauthorized user of the vehicle may be the more readily apprehended.
