Abstract
481,910. Electric incandescent lamps with internal screens. LINDERS, A. A., and RIVAL LAMPS, Ltd. Sept. 23, 1936, No. 25845. [Class 39 (ii)] In an electric incandescent lamp for vehicle headlights, of the kind provided with a main filament at or near the focus of the reflector and an auxiliary filament which is spaced from the main filament and has an opaque screen beneath it, the auxiliary filament 6 is situated above the level of the main filament 10, with its mid-point in advance of the midpoint of the main filament, and the plane containing the rim of the screen 14 is above the level of the auxiliary filament and parallel or substantially parallel to the axis of the lamp. Preferably the rear end of the auxiliary filament 6 is substantially in vertical alignment with the front end of the main filament 10. In the example the screen is in the form of a flat sheet with its near-side and front edge bent up at right-angles to form margins 16, 15 respectively, with a similar margin 17 along the near-side half of the back edge. Preferably each of the filaments is in the form of a V lying in a horizontal plane. A leading-in wire to the filament 6 serves also to support the screen, which has a rearwardly extending lug 18 welded to the .wire, the return wire 4 from the filament 6 being connected also to the filament 10.
