[Classes 16, 146 (ii), and 146 (iii)] A sheet-feeding device for use with writing-pads comprises a hand-rest i, Fig. 2, overlying the pad a and capable of a reciprocatory movement toward the upper and lower edges of the writing sheets, the upper edge of the hand-rest being furnished with frictional means n, adapted in one direction of movement to grip and advance the topmost sheet on which it bears, and in the opposite direction to leave the sheet undisturbed. The pad a is secured by rubber bands f to the case b. A lid c with a pocket d for envelopes is hinged to the case at g and provided with a fabric stay h, which also acts to guide the writing sheets. The hand-rest i is hinged to a section j which is hinged to the base and provided with strips of strawboard or the like k to limit its forward movement. A rubber band l urges the hand rest forward. The friction means n may be a strip of rubber or preferably a section o, Fig. 3, hinged to the hand-rest i on a line p which overhangs its rubber or latex coated base. The handrest i has guide flanges m, or may be guided by the side walls of the case if the case is box-like, and may be formed integrally with the section j and base but with scored hinge lines. The top sheet of the pad is released from the bands f and then line-spaced during writing by reciprocation of the hand-rest, which acts also as a line guide. In the Provisional Specification is described a box-like holder with a spring-pressed strip at one side, and rubber pads on the strip and the other side of the holder to grip the edges of the pad ; the space behind the strip may receive a pencil.
