Abstract

481,757. Separating solid materials. STRINGER, H. I. Oct. 10, 1936, No. 27540. [Class 117] A grading-machine comprises travelling belts spaced side-byside transverse to and at the delivery end of a conveyer on to which the material is fed, the material left on the belts being passed on to further travelling belts spaced side by side where another grading operation occurs. In the form shown, fruit leaving the endless belt 8 passes on to the belts 33, 34 undersized product falling to the shoot 48. The rest passes on to the diverging belts 49, 50 and shoots 70, 73 are provided to receive the products falling between the belts at the various stages along their lengths. The belts may have an approximately vee-section as shown in Fig. 4, and may run on supports 36, 37 which are adjustable to enable the spacing of the belts to be varied. Similar supports are provided for the belts 49, 50.
