481,722. Grinding cams. DECKEL, F., (trading as DECKEL, PRAZISIONSMECHANIK UND MASCHINENBAU, F., [Firm of]). Oct. 26, 1937, No. 29243. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1936. [Class 60] The grinding of a cam 1, having a concavity, is effected in two operations. The concavity is ground (1) by a cylindrical disc 3, Fig. 1, having its axis parallel to that of the cam and having a radius equal to or less than the smallest radius of curvature of the concavity, the cam being slowly rotated, or (2) by a large diameter disc 4, Fig. 3, having its axis at right-angles to that of the cam and having an arcuate periphery with a radius of curvature equal to or less than the smallest radius of curvature of the concavity, the cam being slowly rotated, or (3) by a disc 5, Fig. 5, having its axis at rightangles to that of the cam and having a profile identical with the concavity, the cam being held stationary. The remaining portion of the cam is ground by a disc of large diameter having its axis parallel to that of the cam.
