[Class 143] In an optical indicating device for a weighing and computing scale employing a movable transparent chart, the beam of light after passing through a lens manually adjustable across rows of numerals on the chart, is divided by a semi-transparent fixed reflector, the passing and reflected rays being led by further reflectors to projection apertures at different sides of the housing. As shown, a load placed on the scale pan 6 rotates a transparent disc 9 a proportional amount. The disc bears outer rings of weight graduations readable from opposite sides of the machine through apertures 25, 25<1>, and a series of inner rings of monetary values corresponding to various prices per unit weight. Images of the value graduations are projected by an optical system on to screens 20, 21 at opposite sides of the machine, the optical system being arranged to give normal reading of the values at both screens. For the screen 20 the system comprises a lamp 10, two condenser lenses 11, 12, mirrors 14, 17, projection lenses 15, 19, semi-permeable reflector 22 and mirror 23. For the screen 21, the rays proceed by the same path except that they are reflected at the semi-permeable reflector 22 on to a V-shaped mirror 24 and thence on to the screen 21. The V-shaped mirror reverses the image laterally so as to give normal reading on the screen. The lenses 12, 15 and mirrors 14, 17 may be adjusted vertically as a whole by means of an external knob which at the same time sets the price per unit-weight indication on graduated scales 26, 261.
