Abstract
480,979. Discharge lamps. SIEMENS ELECTRIC LAMPS & SUPPLIES, Ltd., and ALDINGTON, J. N. Dec. 8, 1936, No. 33674. [Class 39 (i)] A stream of cooling fluid is directed over a mercury vapour lamp so that theportions where the electrodes are situated are at the same temperature. As shown, a super-highpressure lamp 1 is mounted in a water cooler 4 having inlets or outlets 6, 7 near its ends and an outlet or inlet 9 near its middle. The lamp is held in the cooler 4 by fluid-tight packing 5. The cooler may be of metal, with a quartz or glass window and a reflector opposite the window. The lamp may have a pressure of 100 atmospheres. Specification 476,190 is referred to.
