480,778. Emulsion layers for colour photography. GROVES, W. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) June 25, 1936, No. 17666. [Class 98 (ii)] A multi-layer or multi-pack colour photographic material comprises silver halide emulsion layers containing colour formers wherein the red-sensitive layer contains a dyestuff component for blue-green, e.g. naphthol or its derivatives, and is sensitized with a sensitizer from the class of the known symmetrical or unsymmetrical dialkylaminothio-, dialkylaminoseleno-, and dialkylaminoindocarbocyanines, and the yellow-green sensitive layer contains a dyestuff component for purple, e.g. a derivative of pyrazolone, and a sensitizer from the class of the known symmetrical # : #<1> naphthoxocarbooyanines, or the unsymmetrical carbocyanines which contain a thiazoline ring or a benzoxazole, benzthiazole or benzselenazole ring themselves containing as substituents an alkyl group, a benzene ring or a tetrahydrobenzene ring in the 4 : 5-, 5 : 6- ; or 6 : 7-positions, halogen, a benzoylaminogroup or a hydroaromatic residue e.g. cyclohexyl. The sensitizers are described in Specifications 383,486, 400,951, 402,521, 410,481, 427,887, 432,969, and 442,160. The emulsion layers may also contain stabilizers. The material may be used in negative, or reversal processes, as well as for producing colour component pictures on separate supports. Ten examples of the constituents and sensitivity ranges of suitable emulsions for use in the multilayer material are given in the Specification. Specification 465,823 also is referred to.
