Abstract

477,875. Frequency changing. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 5, 1937, No. 12831. Convention date, May 5, 1936. [Class 38 (ii)] In a frequency changer comprising an inductance L having a saturable core and energized from a source of base frequency 10 to produce a group of harmonics, the primary circuit being tuned to the base frequency by a condenser Cl and aircored inductance L1 of greater magnitude than the inductance L, the secondary circuit comprises a capacity C and a resistive load R whereby substantial uniformity in the magnitude of the harmonics is ensured. The resistive character of the load may be obtained by using a bank of filters 35, Fig. 2, tuned to the different odd harmonics required and coupled through a transformer 34 to the output circuit 30. Where even harmonics are required, a bridge arrangement of rectifiers 36 may be employed as shown with a bank of filters 38 tuned to the even harmonics and connected to the rectifier bridge through a transformer 37.
