[Class 144 (ii)] A traction-band comprises a series of metal shoes 6 connected by pairs of rigid links 3 pivoted to the shoes adjacent their radially-inner ends. The shoes, which are fitted or formed with tread lugs 8, are stated to pivot about axes x to produce a feathering action in use. For assembly and adjustment, the links 31 carried by one of the end shoes are provided with spaced holes 12 for selective engagement with the pairs 101 on the other end shoe.
