Abstract

477,770. Wick burners. IMBER, J. July 1, 1936, Nos. 18263/36 and 4486/37. [Class 75 (i)] In a liquid-fuel burner of the annular wick type in which the height of the wick a is adjusted by rotation of a part of the burner about the axis of the wick, the latter is fitted with studs k which engage in a screwthread f on a rotatable outer wick-tube e. This tube is secured at g to the burner basket h to which is detachably fastened at x an operating disc i formed with projecting finger-holds m. To prevent axial movement of the basket h and tube e during rotation, there are provided curved springs q which are carried by a flange d and engage the upper surface of the disc i. In case of jamming or when it is desired to insert a new wick, the springs q yield to allow upward displacement of the basket h and tube e. Fig. 7 shows a modification in which the springs q are replaced by slotted lugs y which are slidable on pins 2 secured to the fuel reservoir, these lugs engaging, in the operative position, over a flange 3 projecting from the basket h.
