477,715. Making bags &c. HOLLINS MILL CO., Ltd., and CARVER, G. A. Sept. 19, 1936, No. 25548. [Class 94 (ii)] A bag &c. is formed with the back, opposite edges and portions of the front from one or more pieces of textile material a, e.g. handkerchiefs, with a transparent panel b, in strip form, extending between the front portions of textile material and secured thereto by adhesive strip material d, the panel extending from end to end of the bag, the bottom of which is preferably closed by adhesive strip material. Transparent strip material b with the adhesive strip material d attached thereto and suitably moistened, e.g. by endless strips of paper which may be changed at intervals, is led through the interior of a hollow former. The handkerchief &c. a is folded, by hand, around the underside of the former and its edges come beneath gauges on the former top to ensure proper positioning. Gaps in the former enable the operator to press, with her fingers, the fabric a against the strip material d to initiate adhesion which is completed by a pair of rollers, the upper of which is power-rotated and capable of being lifted upwardly by foot pedal &c. After adhesion, the transparent strip material is cut and the bottom of the bag completed preferably by adhesive strip material folded thereabout.
