Abstract
476,711. Centrifugal dust-separators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., CHELTNAM, C. H. W., and CHELTNAM, C. H. Oct. 6, 1936, No. 27110. [Class 23] A dust - separator of the type described in Specification 458,792 with slots 6, 6<1> to act as dust outlets, in the end walls but removed from the periphery of the separating chamber 1, is provided with a further dust outlet 10 adjacent to the periphery so that oversize particles can escape from the chamber. The dust-laden gas enters by the rectangular inlet 2 which extends the full length of the chamber, and the clean gas outlet pipe 3 which is connected to a suction fan 11 has adjustable dampers 8 to control the port 4 by which the clean gas enters the pipe. The dust ports 6, 6<1>, 10 open into an annular chamber 7 connected by the tangential pipe 12 to the secondary cyclone separator 13, and the clean air from this separator is returned through the pipe 14 to the clean gas outlet pipe 3 of the first separator. Dust outlets may be provided at each end of the separating chamber. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, conical end walls 18, 19 are employed and an annular dust outlet 23 is provided in the wall 18. The additional port 25 for the oversize particles is formed at the edge of the wall 18, and the dust ports communicate with the chamber 24 which is connected to a secondary separator by the pipe 12. The clean gas outlet 20 is connected to a fan and the flow is controlled by dampers 22.
