[Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A road or rail vehicle is provided with a radial cylinder engine 1 mounted on a longitudinal wall 2 of the vehicle, the driving shaft 6 being carried horizontally along a transverse wall or partition 7 to a central position where - bevel gearing 8 transmits the drive to a down shaft 9. On a road vehicle, as shown, the engine is mounted on the outer side of the wall in a casing 3 with a hinged cover adapted to open downwardly, a symmetrically disposed casing 4 on the opposite wall housing a spare wheel 5. As applied to a rail vehicle, Fig. 2 (not shown), the engine is mounted on the inner side of the wall in a casing with closable apertures to facilitate access, cooling air being admitted through grid-apertures in the side wall.
