Abstract

474,686. Solenoids. GOLDFINGER, I. May 6, 1936, No. 12836. Convention date, May 7, 1935. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXV] The bolt 1 of a door, co-operating with a keeper 15, is attached to the core 2 of a solenoid having two windings 4, 5 which are respectively energized to shoot and retract the bolt. The core is attached to a slidable insulating block 6 carrying two sets of spring-pressed contacts 10, 11 disposed at right-angles to one another and co-operating with correspondingly disposed fixed contacts to prepare the circuits of windings 4, 5 alternately. As shown, the bolt is retracted, circuit of winding 5 is broken at contacts 10, and circuit of winding 4 is prepared by contacts 11 bridging the fixed contacts 13 so that when the solenoid is energized the bolt is shot. This movement de-energizes winding 4 by contacts 11 leaving contacts 13, and at the same time contacts 10 engage the other fixed contacts, not shown, to prepare circuit of winding 5 for subsequent withdrawal of the bolt.
