Abstract
474,330. Rope railways. WEST CANNOCK COLLIERY CO., Ltd., and CHALLENOR, E. A. Jan. 15, 1937, No. 1233. [Class 104 (ii)] A rope guide for haulage roadways consists of a member a with radial arms b successively brought into contact with the upper side of the traction rope g by the travelling rope grip, springs resiliently retaining the member in each service position. The arms b are so arranged that a following arm engages the rope g before the preceding arm leaves it. To avoid friction each arm carries a rotatable sleeve c, and to avoid canting the member a, the sleeves of the idle arms engage a pathway n. The member a has a polygonal boss i with a side corresponding to each arm, and the sides are engaged by pivoted levers j coupled by a spring k. An additional spring l engages one lever j in case of damage to spring k. The members a are preferably used in staggered pairs. Guards p may be used for the track rails f and guides o for the rope g and rope grips.
