Abstract
474,301. Filling nozzles. CHERRYBURRELL, Ltd., and RODGERS, F. April' 28, 1936, Nos. 12086, 25643, 25646, and 25999. [Class 125 (ii)] A filling - nozzle comprises a vent tube which is closed at its upper end when the receptacle is removed, so as to prevent liquid draining out of the tube. A bulk supply tank 4 has a liquid supply tube 3 carrying a spring- loaded sleeve 1 having a sealing member 2 for the mouth of the receptacle ; concentrically within the supply tube, a vent tube 8 carrying a valve seat 9 for cooperation with the sleeve 1 and a stop 17 to limit its upward movement. When a receptacle is placed in filling position, the member 2 is raised against the spring 5, and the vent tube is also raised under the influence of the spring 12, further movement of the member 2 lifts the sleeve 1 off the seating 9 and allows liquid to enter the receptacle. The upper end of the vent tube 8 is perforated and the end is sealed by a cap 13, the end of the tube is thus airtight until it is raised to expose the perforations. Other arrangements for keeping the upper end of the vent tube airtight until it is raised are described.
