[Class 97 (i)] The pay-out and take-up spools are removably mountect in separate housings; the housing for the pay-out spool is provided with rewinding means and may be detachably connected to the camera casing, and the housing for the take-up spool is within the casing. As shown. a housing a<1> for the pay-out spool a has a flanged light-tight cover a<2> and a flange a<10> extending into an aperture in the camera casing ; it is attached to the casing by screws a<9>. The spindle c<1> for the take-up spool c is carried by a frame c<3> rockable about a hinge c<4> by a spring-controlled push-button c<5> against the action of a spring c<6> or of a. spring at the hinge. The film from the spool a passes to the gate b<3> over a roller all on a spring-pressed arm a<12>, and over a pin 6<2>, and passes from the gate over a pin 6<5> to the spool c. The spool c is driven by engagement between the edge of one of its flanges and a frictionally-rotated wheel d<4> fitted on the usual take-up spool spindle e, the wheel being spring-pressed on to a rubber covered plate e<1> secured to the spindle. Reverse winding may be effected by pressing the button c<5> to disengage the spool c from the wheel d<4>, and by pressing inwards and rotating a knob a<6> fixed on the spindle a<5> carrying the spool a. The spindle a<5> has a squared portion a<7> which then makes driving connection with a square spindle hole, and also carries a disc g having a finger g<1> which then engages a toothed counter-disc g<2> having numerals on its face, visible through a window g<4>, to indicate the length of film reversely wound. A spring carried by the lid of the camera casing may laterally engage the spool c and a roller f may prevent the film from engaging the wheel d<4>.
