Abstract

472,366. Aircraft cockpit hoods. SAULNIER, R. Dec. 22, 1936, No. 35147. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1935. [Class 4] An aircraft cockpit is provided with a slidable cover operated and detachable by means of mechanism disposed inside the aircraft. As shown, the cover 1 is provided with two hinged side panels 9, 10, provided with, e.g. lugs 26, 27 which, when the panels are closed, are situated on either sides of lugs 31, 30, 29 respectively. The lugs 31, 30, 29 are provided on a carriage 28 which is translated along guides . through rack-andpinion gear 38, 35 on operation of a handle 36. The ends of the roof are provided with further lugs 14. Hooks, e.g. 21 on rods 12, are passed through holes in adjacent lugs, e.g. 27, 14 and 31. The roof is released, by a pull exerted on a member 25 which through a bell-crank lever 22 moves the rod 12 axially against the action of a spring 20 connected to a lever 16. After operation, the tension of the spring is maintained by co operation between the lever 16 and a bracket 41.
