Abstract
472,361. Nailextractors. SCHULTHEISS, H. Nov. 12, 1936, Nos. 30894 and 30895. Convention dates, Nov. 12, 1935 and Oct. 14, 1936. [Class 61 (iii)] A nail-extractor comprises a lever 1 formed at one or both ends with a jaw 4 having a nail engaging slot 5 and pivoted at 6 to a supporting foot 10 formed with a rear scraping edge 8 and anchoring points 9, the lever passing through an opening 11 in the base plate of the foot and the edges 12, 13 of the opening limiting the free swinging of the lever which is pulled in one direction by a spring 14. Figure 4 shows a modification wherein the lever 1 is fitted with a reversible angled jaw member 18 with jaws 4 at each end adapted to engage different sized nails. Another modification, Fig. 5, has a jaw member 21 with jaws 4 of three different sizes pivoted at 20 to the lever 1 and locked by a spring plunger 23. In another modification, Fig. 6, the lever is slit into two parts 24 and fitted with bolt and nut 25, 26 so as to provide a nail engaging slot of adjustable size. The foot may be provided with an inwardly directed cutting jaw 28 and supporting pin 29 for severing an iron hoop 31.
