[Class 61 (ii).] A tubular fret-saw frame a has a rounded bend connecting the limbs and each end is flattened to form one of the blade clamping jaws, the other jaw c at the handle end or c<2> at the other end being formed of a plate with a stub end engaging a hole b in the tube, jaw c being slotted at e to engage the clamp bolt f so that it can be pulled out to disengage the stub end from hole b enabling handle g to be folded inwards and jaw c<2> carrying a rubber buffer h adapted to rest on the bench edge without slipping whilst turning the clamping nuts. Instead of employing a separate clamping plate the ends of the tubular frame a may be slotted and flattened to form clamping jaws c<3>, c<4>, Fig. 7. In another modification, Fig. 10, the separate clamping plate c<4> coacting with the flattened end of the tubular frame a is slotted at the end to engage with a headed stud l, this form of clamping member being applicable to a frame formed from metal strip, Fig. 13. In another modification, Fig. 15, the slotted blade clamps q, rare slidable and rotatable in the frame heads m, n and held in angularly adjusted position by teeth s, the lower clamp being pulled down by a spring ; the shank o of the clamp m is secured in the end of the frame by a pin p with the handle g either in the position shown or extending inwards.
