[Class 87 (ii)] In a biscuit-making machine wherein dough f is carried between a table or support d and a combined cutter c and embosser a, the support d is positively reciprocated to and from the cutter and embosser. The embosser a may be secured on rods b attached to a relatively fixed part such as the levers g pivotally suspended in a frame h. The hollow cutter c is reciprocated about the embosser by an eccentric c<1> and the support d reciprocated by an eccentric d<1>. The eccentric c<1> may be advanced angularly with respect to the eccentric d<1> by 120‹. The arrangement is such that the support d rises and causes the dough to be embossed and the cutter to enter the dough. While the cutting is being completed, the table begins to fall away but at a slower speed, so that the descending cutter pushes the dough off the embosser, and finally, completes the cutting. A stripper bar may be provided around the cutter. The dough may be fed by a travelling web e. The feed may be intermittent, being stationary during embossing and cutting. Alternatively the feed may be continuous and the cutter, embosser and support may be moved bodily with the dough by reciprocation of the levers g by a lever j and eccentric g<1>. The eccentrics c<1>, d<1>, g<1> may be on one shaft i. which may be coaxial with the pivot for the levers g. The embosser may be reciprocated and in that case, the cutter may be stationary.
