Abstract

788,013. Cutting webs; seaming. METAL BOX CO., Ltd. May 4, 1956 [July 14, 1955], No. 20471/55. Classes 31 (1) and 42 (1). [Also in Group XVII] A machine for making bags from thermoplastic flattened tubular web (see Group XVII) includes sealing and saw-toothed perforating bars 2, 3 which co-operate with a support roll 4 to seal and perforate the web transversely at spaced intervals. The bars 2, 3 are carried on a head 15 spring mounted and adjustable on a pair of connecting rods 18. The rods 18 are supported by crank pins 22, the eccentricity of which relative to shafts 26, 27 is adjustable by screws 23 moving the pins along crank arms 25 rotating with the shafts 26, 27. The shafts 26, 27 are chain and gear driven from a printing impression drum (not shown) and impart to the bars 2, 3 motion in a circular path.
