Abstract

1421627 Bag making machines; seaming non-metallic sheet material FMC CORP 12 Feb 1973 [30 March 1972] 6751/73 Headings B5D and B5K A thermoplastic bag making machine comprises a pair of draw rolls 74 intermittently rotated to feed a folded web to a seal roll 80 and a reciprocable sealing bar (78), and a common drive mechanism which, through an oscillating shaft 162, clutch 166 and brake 176, rotates the draw rolls, and through a Geneva drive mechanism 182 rotates the seal roll. The machine apart from the Geneva drive is generally the same as in Specification 1,279,441. The seal roll is arranged to start rotating before the draw rolls. The sealing bar, which is reciprocated by push rods operated by cams 82, seals and cuts the folded web into bags.
