Abstract
471,314. Sanitary closets. TWYFORDS, Ltd., and BAILEY, E. H. March 5, 1937, No. 6547. [Class 26] A closet - basin comprises at the rear thereof a depending discharge - leg having an enlarged upper part 6, a lower part 3 of relatively reduced crosssection, and an outlet-branch extending from the rear of the leg, and a sump 7 at the junction of the leg and outlet and disposed mainly beneath the lower end of the leg ; the arrangement is such that the sump does not form a trap and acts momentarily to retard the outflow so that the outlet siphon is fully charged. The sump may be of bulbous shape and the part 3 of square cross-section; the outlet-branch is internally of a smaller cross-sectional area than that of the part 3, and its walls are thickened at 8 to fit a standard coil-pipe socket.
