Abstract
465,878. Fluid - pressure brakes; bellows-chambers. FEENY, L. B. Nov. 14, 1935, No. 31546. [Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a bellows-chamber for operating brakes and for other purposes, which is built up of two or more sections, each section has two frusto-conical walls e, f of rubber or other flexible material and a rounded neck g. Each end section is secured to a rigid end wall b of for example, aluminium alloy by a lip h received in a groove in the wall f and by a ring j. Intermediate sections when used are of similar form but have at each end flanges k similar to the flange d of the end sections for securing to other sections. The sections may be secured together by tubular rivets o passing through the flanges and metal rings n, a ring r being interposed if desired. The rings n may be replaced by a single channel-section ring embracing the flanges. The outer surface of the walls may be spherical. The diameter of the inner ends d of the end sections need not be the same as that of the outer ends. The chamber may be used for vacuum servo brake or clutch mechanism or for mechanism operated by fluid under pressure.
