[Class 46] An oil filter comprises layers of cellulose 4 and cotton-wool 5, separately pressed into position around a perforated outlet pipe 3. The layers may be impregnated with infusorial earth. There may be an outer layer 10 of infusorial earth and the perforations in the pipe 3 may be covered with gauze 9. A bar or wire 11 passing through the pipe 3 keys the inner filtering-material in place.
