463,860. Hair - curling appliances. SEBESTA, C., and MAREK, B. Nov. 23, 1936, No. 32046. [Class 131] A pair of curling-tongs is adapted to be opened and closed in quick succession by means of an electromagnet enclosed in the handle and operated by an intermittent current. The magnet g is enclosed in a casing y attached to the handle of the solid member of the tongs, which may be heated electrically, and is connected to a conductor h by a rotatable coupling i. The armature m of the magnet is carried on a bell-crank lever o the other end of which is connected to a rod r, having at its end a pin t bearing on a projection x on the concave member of the tongs. The intermittent energization of the magnet opens the tongs and allows them to close under pressure from the operator's hand.
