Abstract
463,504. Electrical precipitation apparatus. NANNI, J. Feb. 11, 1936, No. 4171. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] In electrical gascleaning apparatus, collecting electrodes 9, 1, 2, 3, Fig. 1, of cylindrical, prismatic or square sections are disposed concentricaly and are of increasing length at their lower ends from the centre outwardly, and the gas inlet 13 comprises one or more straight or funnel shaped downwardly directed discharge openings 14. The innermost electrode 9 terminates at one or both ends in a cone. To prevent undue electrical stress at the edges of the collecting electrodes, they may be thickened, as shown in Fig. 4, by rings 19. Alternatively or in addition, the discharge electrodes 20 may be of strip form and twisted so as to present the sharp edges to the collecting electrodes in the interior thereof and flat surfaces at the points of emergence. According to a further modification, the discharge electrodes are covered at the parts which emerge from the collecting electrodes with insulating or semi-conducting material. The collecting electrodes may be hollow and formed of apertured material so as to function as catch spaces for the deposited dust, or they may be used for circulating cooling or heating liquid. In the latter case, apertures may be provided for the emergence of the liquid for flushing the electrodes, or separate flushing means may be provided. The collecting electrodes may be traversed by one or more transverse plates so as to provide a number of segmental chambers arranged in parallel. The discharge electrode system may be carried as a unit on the cover of the casing so as to be removable therewith.
