Abstract
Tars for road surfacing have incorporated therein waste materials containing sulphur from the purification of illuminating gas, the waste materials being first dried, finely ground and screened. The waste materials may be spent oxides of iron and the mixing may be carried out at temperatures ranging from air temperatures to more than 100 DEG C.; the final product may comprise tar 80-90 per cent, sulphur 10-5 per cent, iron oxide 10-5 per cent.
