Abstract

463,013. Mercury switches for fire and temperature alarms. PAYNE, S. G., and BROOKS, C. H. March 23, 1936, No. 8616. [Class 38 (v)] A fire or temperature alarm device comprises a metal container 1 for mercury which with rise of temperature moves up a tube into engagement with a contact 15 extending downwards into the tube, the container 1 and contact 15 being relatively adjustable and the temperature at which contact will take place being indicated on a scale. In the form shown, the container 1 is mounted on a bracket 4 which can be adjustably slid along a fixed bracket 5 by rotating a screw 6 with a head 7. The brackets 4, 5 carry respectively. a scale x and pointer y which co-operate with each other. In place of one wire contact 15, two or more may be provided projecting downwardly to different extents and connected to different alarm circuits.
