Abstract
462,660. Alternating-current motors. NEUREUTHER, A. H. Aug. 7, 1935, No. 22291. [Class 35] A synchronous motor particularly for clock driving comprises a thin disc rotor 8, and stator polepieces 1, 3 formed as flat strips, the rotor having radial peripheral projections and the stator pole faces being correspondingly toothed, the full width of either or both series of teeth being twisted so that the face of each tooth lies in a plane inclined to the plane of the rotor disc and polepieces. If both series of teeth are twisted, the inclination of a stator tooth may differ from that of a rotor tooth. The stator polepieces may be laminated and a magnetic shunt 17 is provided for the stator coil 12. The motor is started by means of a spring propelled rack segment engaging a pinion 10 on the rotor shaft. The rack segment is slotted at 22 and the portion 20 is bent out of the plane of its motion to facilitate engagement with the pinion 10. The rotor spindle 9 has limited axial play to assist locking into synchronism. The rotor and stator teeth preferably have the same width. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 407,800.
