Abstract
462,542. Resilient mountings. GIRLING, A. H. G. Sept. 10, 1935, No. 25148. [Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] Relates to elastic bushings of the kind comprising a sleeve of rubber or the like interposed between rigid inner and outer members mounted respectively on two parts, e.g. an internalcombustion engine and its supporting frame. According to the invention, the bushing comprises a rubber sleeve C vulcanized to inner and outer tubular supporting members A, B, formed of semi-elastic material which is penetrated by the material of the sleeve, the inner surface at least of the inner tubular member A being formed of wire mesh and being soldered or otherwise rigidly secured to a rigid metal member D lying within it. The outer tubular member B may be formed of woven fabric, as shown, or of wire mesh, or partly of each and the inner tubular member may be wholly of wire mesh, as shown, or partly of wire mesh and partly of fabric. One or both ends of the elastic sleeve may be coned as shown.
