Abstract

462,148. Paper-machine drier felts; yarns. BARRELL, W. A. Feb. 25, 1936, No. 5667. Convention date, Aug. 15, 1935. [Classes 120 (iii) and 142 (iv)] The felt comprises a single-ply body of cotton &c. warp threads a, band wefts c and a facing of alternating strands e, f containing asbestos looped around wefts c and supporting wefts g. The wefts may be laid in double. The asbestos strands may comprise asbestos fibres h with 20 per cent of cotton, and a confining cage of say eight fine threads, preferably cotton interbraided with fine meshes, the helical angle being 5 to 30‹ and the spacing of the covering threads being five times their thickness. Cotton or other oil repelling strands may be substituted for the strands &c., and at the margins where the felt contacts with the drums &c. of the paper drier. There may be 32 ends of cotton warp per inch and twelve picks. U.S.A. Specification 1,991,366 is referred to.
