461,598. Belt magazines for firearms. SOSSO, G. May 18, 1936, No.14110. [Classes 92 (ii) and 119] Relates to magazines containing an endless belt of cartridges stretch ed between top and bottom drums especially for use in the grip of a pistol. According to the invention, the drums 5, 6 converge slightly towards the rear, the magazine casing 1, 2 is curved rearwardly, and the links 9 of the belt are hinged on slightly inclined hinges 10 so that the belt takes a curved path corresponding to the curve of the magazine, the centre of curvature being at the rear, approximately in line with the barrel, so that the grip of the pistol containing the magazine can be inclined downwardly rearwards as is desirable for a pistol. The rear end of the base of each link is formed like a ratchet tooth 9a to co-operate with the feed-pawl ; and the front end 9<b> is inclined upwards to guide the cartridge from the belt to the gun barrel. The rear parts 12<a> of the sides of the link reach above the centre line of the cartridge 11, and the front parts taper down to facilitate the passage of the cartridge from the belt to the gun barrel. The number of links in the belt is uneven, so that when a cartridge is at the top of the top drum, the space between two cartridges is at the bottom of the bottom drum, as shown in Fig. 2. The magazine wall comprises two halves 1, 2 secured together by screws 7.
