461,570. Glass manufacture. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT. - GES., and JOHNSON, G. W. Sept. 2, 1935, No. 24470. Addition to 400,742. [Class 56] Relates to apparatus, such as electric discharge tubes, containing parts which are composed of glass and are exposed to attack by alkali metals or light metals, either in the form of liquid or vapour. According to the invention, the glass is composed as described in the parent Specification and contains, besides not more than 25 per cent of silica, alumina in an excess above the molecular ratio Al2O3 : P2O5 = 1 : 1 up to 30 per cent by weight of the glass, preferably between 12 and 30 per cent. Compositions of a number of suitable glasses are given in the Specification.
