Description

Phosphate glasses for attack by liquid or vaporous alkali or glass parts exposed to other light metals, especially metal vapor lamps For devices or apparatus that are exposed to attack by liquid or vaporous alkali, Contain glass parts exposed to light metals, etc., especially fluorescent tubes Alkali metal vapor filling or other discharge tubes with atomizing light metal electrodes, So far, no material was known that was used for the production of these parts, longer Time would have withstood the attack of the metals or their vapors. It is true has already been proposed to avoid this disadvantage, the silica the To replace glasses largely with boric acid, glasses have a high content of boric acid however, the disadvantage is that they are not very resistant to moisture and atmospheres are. One had to resort to the makeshift solution, she and others for her protection to coat or overlay resistant glasses.

Phosphate-2.1 C, which have been found to be very suitable excess of aluminum oxide exceeding the molar ratio A1203: P.05 - i: i contain up to 30% of the weight of the glass. In addition to being resistant to the action of molten or vaporous alkali metals, light metals, etc. the like they have high water resistance and very good light transmission, so that z. B. fluorescent tubes which emit and essentially visible light in which the transparent parts are subject to attack by molten or vaporous Alkali-. Light metals, etc. are exposed, made from the glasses mentioned can be. So these glasses are very suitable as a material = for the translucent Parts of sodium vapor lamps, which have recently been used for glare-free lighting of traffic routes are important. In these and similar cases where there is does not depend on the permeability of the glasses for ultraviolet or even such would be undesirable. do not need the raw materials used free of iron, titanium and other constituents interfering with ultraviolet permeability, one can So get by with very cheap raw materials.
