Abstract

461,452. Nozzles for suction machines. BRITISH VACUUM CLEANER & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., FRAME, W. J., and HUTCHISON, R. J. Nov. 29, 1935, No. 33156. [Class 8 (i)] A suction nozzle for suction cleaners is provided with a central and two outer suction orifices b, e, e<1>. A valve h controlling these orifices is ported at b, # 1 and k so that either all three orifices are operative or the two outer may be cut off from vacuum when suction is to be concentrated on the central orifice. The central orifice may be provided with sharpened or chamfered edges to facilitate the removal of fine threads &c. from the surface being cleaned. The valve &c. is provided with horns m to enable the valve to be operated with the foot and with internal spring-pressed pistons which prevent operation of the valve under vibration in use.
