Abstract
461,291. Folding seats. LAMB, C. H., and GLOVER, J. B. Oct. 1, 1935, No. 27031. [Class 52 (ii)] A folding seat comprises a pair of uprights 11 of channel section, stays 13 pivoted to the lower ends of the uprights 11, bracing members 15 pivoted to the stays 13 and constituting the front legs of the seat, links 16 connected to the upper ends of the members 15 and detachably connected to the uprights 11, and a flexible seat 19 supported from the uprights 11 and the stays 13. The uprights 11 may be hinged together, or may be adapted to be inserted in sockets 22, Fig. 10, on the upper cross-bar 18 of the seat fabric 19. The links 16, Fig. 1, may be hooked at the upper ends to engage holes in the members 11. The fabric 19 of the seat is attached to an upper cross-bar 18, having a slotted plate engaging a projection 17a on the hinge of the uprights 11, and to a lower cross-bar 20 having sockets 21 which engage the ends of the stays 13. When the seat is folded, the cross-bars 18, 20 are detached, and the members 13 and 15 fold within the uprights 11, the links 16 folding within the members 15, which are of channel section.
