Abstract

461,188. Bung assemblies. RHEEM MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 7, 1935, No. 22321. Convention date, Jan. 22. [Class 21] A metal container &c. is provided with a threaded bush 14 seated in an open-ended recess in the container with its inner end flush with the inner surface of the container, and secured by turning over its outer end 21 over a flange 17 of a reinforcing ring 18. The edge 7 of the opening in the container is preferably faced from the bushing ring 14. Rotation of the bush is prevented by forcing projections 22 into the flanges 5, 18 so that recesses are formed therein. A gasket 25 ensures a tight joint. A protective cover 28 which may be of thick or thin metal seats on a washer 31 and is secured by turning its rim, which may be tongued, beneath the projecting edge 26 of reinforcing ring 18.
